Several days ago, Telkomsel has formed a cooperation with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) to launch Tap-Izy service in order to facilitate the customers for purchasing Prambanan Express (Prameks) train tickets. Now Tap-Izy service from Telkomsel can be used in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Solo.
As quoted (and translated) by DailySocial from the official Telkomsel site, “Tap-Izy is an innovative contactless payment service via mobile phone. It’s the first and the only one available in Indonesia. Tap-Izy SIM card product is equipped with Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID). It’s where the chip and antenna embedded in the SIM card enabling customers to perform payment transactions by touching the mobile phone device to Tap-Izy’s engine electronic data capture ( EDC) reader available in the cashier or ticket counter”.
Prambanan Express is a rail transport service that connects Kutoarjo, Yogyakarta and Surakarta. With the presence of this service, PT Telkomsel and PT KAI held a special program. It’s a promo discount by IDR 1,000 when customer purchase Prameks train tickets AC and non AC using Tap-Izy.
“Right now, the people’s need for performing payment transaction quickly and practical is high. The presence of Tap-Izy service on the ticket counter is considering our effort to expand Tap-Izy service point network, thus it’s easier to reach customers,” explained Mr Ricaredo Soriano Babasa (VP T-Cash Management Telkomsel).
Commuters who want to enjoy this service need to replace their kartuHALO or Simpati SIM card with Tap-Izy SIM card in GraPARI. Consumers can also buy Simpati starter pack that already has Tap-Izy features. To activate, choose Tap-Izy from T-sel menu, enter PIN number 1234 and then select activation; the balance can be refilled starting from IDR 25,000 to IDR 1 million in GraPARI or Indomaret outlets. Apart from Prameks ticket counter, Tap-Izy service could also be used at various merchants such as 7-Eleven, Indomaret, Starmart, Solaria, Disc Tarra, Circle-K, Alfamart, and Cinema 21 which has Tap-Izy logo.
It’s interesting to see Telkomsel’s strategy for expanding Tap-Izy scope of service. After a variety of retail stores and movie theaters, now it adds train passes as additional service.
