Going with current trend, Toyota Indonesia released their mobile application. With Better-B help, they develop applications for all three platforms, iOS (iPhone and iPad), Android, and BlackBerry. Their main goal in doing this is so that customers are more familiarized with Toyota products and get related information directly on our palm.
We all know that Toyota is the bestselling car products. Previously Honda, their closest competitor, released Blackberry platform application namely iMobili and Safety Driving developed by Veelabs.
Applications on various platforms is Toyota’s new approach after previously they use information feature via SMS and mobile web – WAP. Generally, this application provides information on everything you want to know about Toyota. From Twitter and Facebook update, complete info on their products and specifications, dealer information and nearby workshop based on Location Based System, credit service simulation and insurance from Toyota Astra Financial Services and Toyota Insurance, after sales information and reminder for your periodic car service.
The next ones are information on Toyota community’s activities, traffic condition, ATM location, Gas Station and Rest Area location, contactable emergency number (hospital, police), and the thing you need the most when you want to buy a new car – the latest price list of every line of Toyota’s products.
From reviews given by users of every platform, there are mixed reviews. Some praise the apps and some criticize by saying that it makes their Blackberry device works slower and always forced close on Samsung Galaxy Tab which use Android platform.
One other thing, a review in Android Market said he was “tricked” by M-Toyota title; it got him thinking that this application is a global one; instead it is only for products in Indonesia. These reviews are developer’s home works, they have to accommodate these inputs for a much better application. I myself just tried the application on iOS platform for iPad and I have wonderful experience because it is very informative on everything related to Toyota’s products.
