Compared to its initial launch last year, the subscribing fee for MelOn digital music service is now cheaper. October last year, user needed to pay IDR15000 for 2 weeks subscription, now user needs only to pay IDR10000 for the same service.
The price can go lower if you are a Telkom Speedy customer. These two services from Telkom group are cooperating to provide digital music service for Speedy customer, with the price IDR5900 a month. Said promotion is topped with a month free service. Speedy user can enjoy this special price until December 29, 2012.
First month free service is also offered by MelOn for Sony’s newest smartphone user, Sony Tipo. Cooperating with Sony, MelOn presents Musikkan Hidupmu app for Sony Tipo which launched a couple of days ago.
With the promotion, both Speedy and Sony Tipo users can download around 500,000 songs from local and international artists available in MelOn database. Those songs are in DRM format which has small size but with Dolby quality sound.
MelOn claims that currently, it has around 300 thousand customers. But, are all those customers still active to this day is not explained.
As Aulia once stated in an article, the main enemy for music is not piracy, but the difficulty to access a song legally. Now, with MelOn’s service that is easy to access and affordable price, it seems that there is less reason to hijack Indonesian music.
