Ipsos survey : Indonesians Are Profilific Users of Email, Social Media, Internet Banking, and Entertaiment Online

Last week, you read the analysis and opinion from Wiku about Ipsos’ survey result. At that time, Wiku raised the issue of Internet user behavior in online shopping. However, Ipsos’ survey is not only about online trading. Here are some more data about Internet users in Indonesia mentioned in Ipsos’ survey. I hope, rather than being bored reading the following numbers, you will get an idea based on these numbers, instead.

Email

9 out of 10 (91%) internet users in Indonesia are using internet to read and send email. This number was ranked fourth of the 24 countries surveyed. Globally, 85% internet users read and send emails when they are online.

Social Media

Indonesia ranked the top in the usage of internet for social media, including forum and blog. 83% of internet users in Indonesia visit social media when online. This amount is above Argentina (76%), Russia (75%), South Africa (73%), Sweden (72%), Spain (71%) and Hungary (70%). Globally, 62% of Internet users in the world are using the internet to access social media.

Entertainment and Hobby

In addition to social media, 62% of internet users in Indonesia use the Internet for entertainment and looking for information related to their hobbies. The highest for this number is Turkey (72%) and the lowest in Saudi Arabia (35%). Meanwhile, the global average is 57%.

The type of entertainment that looked at by Internet users in Indonesia based on Ipsos’ survey result was revealed by Kompas Tekno. Indonesian users especially frequently download and stream music (60%), movies (43%), online game (27%) and watch television via live streaming (23%).

In addition to the above, Ipsos also surveyed the behavior of global internet users in some other respects. The result, Ipsos found that 14% of internet users use the internet to make VoIP calls, 59% for internet banking and 41% to find jobs.
