Daniel Tumiwa, Country Manager of Multiply Indonesia today announced that Multiply Commerce or Multiply 5.0 is officially released globally. Tumiwa added that Indonesia has the most Multiply online store, leading with over 35.000 e-stores.
Multiply Commerce is the latest breakthrough and probably the biggest one Multiply ever do to catch existing opportunity especially the one related to developing their own users. Previously, Multiply is a social network completed with blog, video, photos, and other features. They changed their strategy by providing marketplace, and now it becomes platform for selling things.
Daily Social has been following their updates since marketplace appeared, meeting between sellers, up to Multiply Commerce’s preparation. Indonesia is a very important market for Multiply and now sellers are really spoilt by Multiply Commerce’s facilities. Below is screenshot of explanation on Multiply Commerce from Peter Pezaris, Founder & CEO of Multiply, appeared immediately after I login to my Multiply account:
Multiply provides step by step instruction on how to migrate to the new selling platform. Sellers need to prepare information on their online store like item stocks, payment method, photos, price, and all other details. Sellers then will be given stocked items list, photo listing, shopping cart, and automated items reduction during selling or restock. Buyers will see online stores look on seller’s website they are visiting, automatic shopping cart facility and integrated payment options like PayPal.
Multiply’s homepage also immediately show marketplace. You can browse through available stores, but if you want to enjoy facilities such as shopping cart and other Multiply Commerce facilities you need to login. Other special arrangements can be seen in Storeroom menu.
Multiply doesn’t charge sellers for getting this new Marketplace (I tried to find info about this on Multiply Commerce page but couldn’t find any). However, as far as I know, if the payment is through Multiply, sellers will be charged 3%, and extra charged of Rp 2.000 will be applied if sellers want to see their account balance/send their revenue before ‘deadline’.
As I said previously, Indonesia is the biggest market for Multiply, them having an office here shows that and indicates that they are taking Indonesian market seriously. Not only because there plenty of sellers here, but they also take note on the number of citizen, both will create new opportunities. Competition in e-commerce is tough, recently Blibli joined the competition after Rakuten, Juale, Tokopedia, etc.
If you browse through Multiply’s marketplace you’ll see that not every sellers migrates to Multiply’s new platform yet, they still use the old platform or looks. Besides competition, Multiply will also face other challenges such as education to sellers and buyers, migration process, and login process faced by users/future buyers who don’t have Multiply account yet.
Multiply platform, Multiply Commerce is now here, let see what strategy they are going to use to win competition in crowded Indonesia’s e-commerce world.
