The partnership between Plasa.com and Microsoft is (apparently) not done with Plasa.com’s webmail powered by Microsoft Live Mail. Today via Telkom Indonesia twitter account, Plasa.com announce another feature for their customer in their partnership with Microsoft. And just like their previous deal, it has nothing to do with e-commerce – you know, their core business.
This time, they’re announcing a free 25GB SkyDrive cloud storage for their users in their partnership with Microsoft. Microsoft is trying really hard to get into the SME segmentation and doing a partnership with Plasa is a good strategy for Microsoft. On the other end, Plasa could always need the free platform by Microsoft although i don’t really see the urgency of having a webmail and a cloud storage for an e-commerce website.
It’s kind of easy to use this service, all you need to do is register as a member at Plasa.com (if you haven’t already), activate your Plasa webMail, login to Windows Live with your Plasa ID and then click SkyDrive and you’re all set. That’s 25 GB free cloud storage and only 4 steps away.
Their previous high-profile deal with eBay was also a little bit dissapointing because it seems more of a cross-promotion rather than solving real problem for Plasa’s customers. I’m still expecting more deals between Microsoft and Plasa, i think they are aiming at a more operational / back-end deal rather than the features and the core business.
