Studio Independent, Focuses on Low End Mobile Phone

Indonesia gaming industry is re-enlivened by the presence of new player in mobile gaming industry. Studio Independent, which previously made a lot of flash games for PC, released its first mobile game for Nokia on Wednesday, called “Michi Michi Panic”.

Currently, “Michi Michi Panic” game can only be enjoyed by Nokia users but Blackberry and Adroid users will be able to enjoy this game in this year of 2012.

As decribed in its press release, Michi Michi Panic is a casual puzzle game consisting of 50 levels. At each level, player is required to help the two main characters of the game, Miaa and Chika, to get out of a food festival by collecting food items. Miaa and Chika will move in counterclockwise and must go out through the portal that matches their characters’ colors. Each level will be more exciting with the increasingly difficult challenges and items that will help or hinder Miaa and Chika in finding a way out.

Studio Independent was first established in 2009. Based in Depok, Studio Independent was more to making flash games and mobile games to be sold to other companies. Seeing the trend of mobile gaming is so huge, Studio Independent decided to market its own games.

About competition in this industry, Ikhlas Risandy, one of the co-founder of Studio Independent, is optimistic enough that the studio is able to survive and thrive. Risandy said that the competition is the thing that will make every game developer to race against each other in improving quality.

Risandy mentiones that Studio Independent will be more focus on developing games for low end mobile phones. Each game will be equipped with a social element. The two things are adapted from characteristic of Indonesia people who are happy to interact with each other, and also because most mobile phones circulating in the community are low end phones.

In addition to Michi Michi Panic that can be obtained in the Ovi Store, Studio Independent has other games that can be enjoyed on Blaast cloud platform. Those games are Bricks Breaker and Squaring. Today, Studio Independent is also developing other new games that will be released in the coming months. Let us look forward to its work which will certainly enliven Indonesian gaming industry.
