As the Internet of Things (IoT) draws near, the cloud computation’s growth in Indonesia keeps going up. Currently, it has increased 41.5%. In response to current condition, the world-class SoftLayer is planning to hold a series of roadshow, entitled SoftLayer Asia 2014, which is opened for anyone to join at no cost at all. Join this geeky and enriching SoftLayer Asia Roadshow Indonesia chapter by registering yourself here.

SoftLayer itself is an IBM’s subsidiary which serves virtual data center and other IT infrastructures, including the cloud computation. SoftLayer offers an automation which enables their customers to gain a full access to the system as well as easy-to-apply solutions.

During the roadshow (which is planned to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Singapore), SoftLayer would hold a workshop that provides its participants a deeper understanding on startups’ technical needs. The company confirms that its own cloud infrastructure can solve hardware-related problems of the servers.

The workshop would be held on October 3, 2014 and feature three prominent experts: Philip Jackson (Lead, Developer Advocate of SoftLayer Technologies), Harold Smith (Sales Engineering of SoftLayer Technologies), and Chris Gallo (Developer Community Advocate, Development – Interface Development).

It’s not uncommon to see local startups failing to survive in the competition due to their lack of capital, something which is really crucial to support their infrastructure and security system. That is practically the reason why SoftLayer plans to hold this workshop, which is also supported by e27 and DailySocial. The workshop would give these startups a hope to have a brighter future, as one of topics that it presents would be the tutorial to accelerate their growth as well as enable them competing with giant companies.

By joining the workshop, it is expected that startups can upgrade their performance by making use of its services, i.e super fast inter-server connection, large capacity of storage, and excellent supporting team that may help startups solving their problems by SoftLayer’s latest technologies.

There are tons of opportunities available at the workshop. It teaches participants that product’s promotion is not the only thing they would concern about. There are many other things that should be taken into their consideration, such as the strategy to penetrate the market, efficient business model, as well as the utilization of cloud computation which gets more and more popular as time goes by.

Natali Ardianto, the CTO of Tiket, shared about his lifting experience of using SoftLayer’s services. He claimed that the services have enabled his own Tiket to be one of the best startups in Southeast Asia.

“Sometime in spring 2012, our platform got attacked by hackers who used multiple methods, like TCP Attack, UDP Attack, slowloris, and DDoS, all at once. They got into us through hundred of thousands of little leaks resulted from the open proxy. After a series of analysis, we decided to move all of our servers to SoftLayer. It turned to be our best decision, since our performance has been tripled and even quadrupled ever since,” Ardianto stated.

In general, this workshop lies on the same function as the other ones. The workshop itself would be held on October 3, 2014 at Ciputra GEPI Incubator. It would be started after lunch to around six in the evening. The agenda will then be followed by mentoring session, in which participants would get the SoftLayer’s technical instructors as their mentor. During that session, participants may ask anything to their mentor.

They would also get the chance to learn about how to operate the Bare Metal Servers, so that they could build their own Public Cloud and Private Cloud Instance. The peak of the event would be when SoftLayer provides insight to the participants by giving them case studies to solve using their own technologies.

Besides getting the chance to have a trial on latest technologies which are not even in stores yet, you can also ask about the best solution to the best experts there. You may even build your own networks by getting in touch with talents who come from all over Asia.
