Twitter finally unveiled the successor for Rick Mulia, who decided to go back to his old company two months ago. The titan introduced Roy Simangunsong, who’s previously Okezone’s CEO and Yahoo! Indonesia’s Country Manager, to head the team as Country Business Head.
The new boss was introduced during the meeting with media regarding Twitter’s update, which was attended by Twitter’s Managing Director for Southeast Asia, India, Middle East, and North Africa Parminder Singh.
“Twitter is not merely a social media company, but also an innovative digital company that facilitates the people of Indonesia,” he stated in his opening remark.
Simangunsong looks for better user engagement in Indonesia as well as adding more users. He expects to make Twitter something strongly attached to the people.
“From technology point of view, we also want Twitter to reach more users, especially local developers who use Fabric platform,” he added.
His main challenge is surely to improve Twitter’s revenue from digital ads in Indonesia, which is dominated by Google and Facebook all this time. Twitter is currently promoting the campaign on using Twitter’s ads for business purposes to the public, especially SMEs.
