Nokia has announced that Klepon Stack, a game developed by Affath Firdausi, a student of University of Indonesia, is the winner of the Nokia Asha Aps Challenge competition. As a reward, Firdausi will be sent to Rovio’s headquarters in Finland for a week to learn further about creating and marketing mobile apps through an internship program at Rovio.

Nokia Asha Apps Challenge is a competition to expand the idea of Angry Birds with an Indonesian character.  This challenge came from Rovio, makers of Angry Birds, in collaboration with Nokia at the launch of Nokia Asha 300 back in January.

In an announcement held at Nokia Developers Programon last Thursday in Jakarta, Klepon Stack won over other finalists. Among them are Tap Tap Ghost, Wago Warrior, Save Komo, Mad Fish, Kite Knight, Cari Kata, Pocong to the Moon, 1000 Temples for Roro, and Make Me a Princess. All the finalists’ games can be downloaded from Nokia Store.

According to Narenda Wicaksono, Developer Experience Lead, Nokia Southeast Asia, as cited from detiknet, Klepon Stack was picked as the winner because it was favored by Rovio and has the potential to be the next Angry Birds. Other than having the taste of Indonesia in Klepon, authentic Indonesian food, Klepon Stack also uses the principles of physics that applied in the Angry Birds. The physics principle used in principles of gravity and balance that make objects fall.

Aside from the circular Klepon, this game also presents other shapes; triangle which represents wajik – Indonesian snack made of palm sugar and sticky rice, and square depicting breadfruit. Each player must stack these shapes but also keep them in balance. Currently, Klepon only consists of nine levels but Firdausi promised to develop the game so the levels can be increased. Interested in trying? This game, intended for Nokia S40, can be downloaded from Nokia Store on this link.
