Grab expands the electric scooter GrabWheels coverage to the Engineer Faculty of Universitas Indonesia. This is the following step of the strategic partnership between Grab and UI in May 2019 at the UI Works accelerator program.
Grab Indonesia’s President, Ridzki Kramadibrata said, UI’s Engineer Faculty becomes the second place for GrabWheels business after The Breeze, BSD. He expects this mode can be used by lecturers, students, and all UI’s academic communities daily.
In addition, with a strong background in engineering, students and lecturers can give advice, in terms of technology and user experience for better GrabWheels.
“Feedback is very important to us for GrabWheels can keep expanding to other locations,” he said on Wed (7/17).
UI’s Dean of Engineer Faculty, Hendri D.S. Budiono added, based on area, Engineer Faculty is the second largest in UI that’s quite necessary for mobility vehicles in daily activity. The road infrastructure is getting better for the electric scooter around campus area.
In fact, GrabWheels shared the same vision with the faculty in developing IT-based environment. He also expects this collaboration can build-up student’s research and innovation spirit to bring this country on top through technology.
Grab is currently providing 45 units for GrabWheels to use around UI’s Engineer Faculty area. The cost hasn’t been set, it’s free. Only, there will be market education for security behavior through direct message in GrabWheels app.
Users are required to use the helmet for a safety standard. During the trial, Grab provides a special team to help the users for technical issues.
Ridzki said their team is to add up more units, based on demand. Furthermore, GrabWheels is to be available in all over UI. It is soon to be launched in Grab’s main app.
