Local phone manufacturer Evercoss and China-based Baidu officially launched an Android app called the “Everstore” yesterday (28/10). The store claimed to have 500 thousands apps within its service. Besides facilitating users to download the Android-based apps, Everstore also allows local developers to display their masterpiece there.
Android-based smartphones have indeed become the favorite of people in Indonesia. The remarkable growth that it shows has left its competitors far behind. Along with this promising development, users’ need of apps and other android-based content keep increasing as well. That is the reason why this Everstore came into the surface. Baidu’s excellent app distribution, which is up to 300 million per day, makes Everstore even more solid.
Janto Djojo, Evercoss Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, stated, ”we are of the belief that our local developers are on the same level as those global ones. It’s only a matter of opportunities. Thus, we do expect that Everstore may facilitate them and promote them to the global market.”
Everstore holds “Glocal Apps”, which stands for Global and Local, as its slogan. This may be interpreted as a local-based store with global quality.
Djojo also hoped that Everstore may push the national creative industry, especially the mobile app industry. He was also optimistic that Everstore may better up users’ experience in using Evercoss devices, which is claimed as the market leader in Indonesia.
Bao Jianlei, Baidu’s Managing Director for Indonesia, regarded Everstore as a positive collaboration between both parties. “Through Everstore, we look to contribute to the development of mobile internet ecosystem in Indonesia as well as help local Android-based app developers promoting their products,” he added.
