Last Wednesday at Gedung Kompas Gramedia, Jl. Palmerah Barat No.29, Jakarta, there was an event called Workshop Coding for Mobile Game Developer. This event was also part of Mobile Game Developer War series of events which the top event will be held in Jakarta on May 31, 2011.

The series of events sponsored by Nokia included Mobile Game Developer Camp and Mobile Game Developer War held in Bandung awhile ago, and workshops held in Yogyakarta and Surabaya. The event is also supported by CHIP magazine and Agate Studio.

For this workshop, CHIP became host by providing a room that was not only filled by participants that are – most of them – college students, but also by participants from public and companies.

I came a little late, but from material I got from the event committee, at this workshop the participants were given material of simple game case study, Pong Game for Java based mobile device. The material was presented by Aditia Dwiperdana, Chief People Officer of Agate Studio. Several materials given started from application installation introduction, circle and drawing sequence, simple input and moving object up to game loop, simple collision detection and pong prototype and pong with basic functionality. The workshop was divided into three session, including lunch and coffee break.

It was fun looking at around 123 participants, which were quite enthusiast in following the workshop series until the end of the event. Not to mention the number of female participants which were quite as much as the ones participated in Mobile Game Developer Camp event in Bandung. On this event Nokia also opened free registration to create account in Ovi Store (Ovi Publisher Account), participants’ enthusiast could be seen at least from registration’s long line.

There are several other series of events before finale at the end of this May. In Yogyakarta, Mobile Game Developer War will be held on April 19, 2011 (info: jointsugm.com/JGE), Surabaya, on May 23-24, 2011 in form of Mobile Game Developer Camp (info: suWec.com), Jakarta, on May 26-27, 2011 in form of Mobile Game Developer Camp and the finale, Mobile Game Developer Final War on May 31, 2011 in Jakarta.

After attending Game Developer War the other day at Hilton Hotel, Bandung which presented absolutely interesting various Java based games (developed no more than two week), I really can’t wait for the finale, which will be the final war for the winners from various cities.

Let us wait for the next series of event, and for DailySocial readers who are interested to get further information, you can contact the above mentioned contact details or you can visit N.Ice website to check out coverage of Nokia’s events or to look for additional information.

Disclosure: DailySocial is one of the event’s media partner.
