After hackathon event with Nokia that challenged local developers to develop application on the Windows Phone 7 platform, now, Microsoft is back with even bigger hacktahon event than the previous hackathon.
At this hackathon, Microsoft challenges local developers to develop applications for Windows Phone 8 and this event is a great opportunity for developers who can develop applications for this platform before it’s launched in full version. Microsoft targets 1000 developers to participate in this hackathon. Windows 8 Hackathon will be held on May 16-17, 2012 for 24 hours nonstop, taking place at the Mataram Room. Sheraton Mustika Hotel Yogyakarta, Jl. Laksda Adisucipto KM 8.7, Yogyakarta.
This event is open for students, alumni, lecturers and IT startup/freelancer who lives in Yogyakarta or outside Yogyakarta. Hackathon participant is an individual or a team of up to 5 members with different competencies such as Architect, Developer, Project Manager and UI/UX Designer. The following criteria and competencies to be fulfilled to participate in this hackathon:
- Programming capability: HTML/CSS and JavaScript or NET (C#, VB.NET, C++) and XAML
- Capability of UI design and Multimedia with Microsoft Expression Designer or other Tools.
- Own an idea/scenario of Metro Style application (Tablet/Slate)
- Have a commitment to complete the application during and after the implementation of Windows 8 Hackathon
- Available to attend Campus Roadshow at UGM, UKDW, AKAKO and AMIKOM for Students participants.
The hackathon’s Campus Roadshow, we get the information from Microsoft that the event will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at AMIKOM and AKAKOM. Then on Friday, May 11, 2012 the Campus Roadshow will be held at UGM. Microsoft also states that there will be a co-trainer for Windows 8 hackathon event on May 12-13, 2012 at UKDW. The series of Campus Roadshow event and Co-Trainer are preparation for the main event on May 16-17, 2012 that will be attended by 1.000 developers.
