E-commerce enabler aCommerce announced it has been selected by Lippo Group to fast track MatahariMall for its fulfillment, online marketing, and exclusive consulting services to help build the in-house operation. MatahariMall, which is going to be publicly available in the coming days, aims to be the one billion dollar online business to cater Indonesia’s O2O (online-to-offline) market.
Both aCommerce Indonesia’s co-CEO, Hadi Wenas and Adrian Suherman, will oversee the project. As depicted in its blog post, their goal is to create the largest and most complete marketplace, offering the best deals and largest variety of products, covering fashion, beauty, electronics, home, groceries, books, and entertainment to everyone. MatahariMall was announced around two weeks ago.
John Riady, Executive Director of Lippo Group, about their pick on aCommerce said, “aCommerce brings speed, practicality, tailored services, teamwork, and can-do attitude to accelerate our go-to-market.”
While Suherman commented, “We believe Matahari is the only e-commerce player who can truly leverage the O2O (online-to-offline) process. Nobody has been able to replicate it for quite some time. While e-commerce is not new to the region, what’s unique here is the massive offline presence that Lippo Group has. With around 60% of Indonesians still shopping offline, MatahariMall will forge the bridge needed to truly shift consumer behavior.”
MatahariMall will be the frontrunner for O2O business in Southeast Asia, allowing customers to pay, collect and return their goods in all 138 Matahari department stores across Indonesia.
