In order to celebrate its 51st birthday, Indosat Ooredoo partners with Ericsson to demonstrate 5G by presenting the way to use its technology. Both companies highlighted two main products, the test bed for 5G and 3D-AR (Augmented Reality).

Arief Musta’in, Indosat Ooredoo’s Director & Chief Innovation Officer, said the 5G technology has the potential to accelerate digital transformation in various industries in Indonesia, and readiness to use 5G technology is one of Indosat Ooredoo’s visions to build a competitive video quality network.

“5G has the potential to accelerate digital transformation in various industries in Indonesia, and empower consumers with innovative implementation. The preparation of 5G is in our vision to build a video quality network. Indosat Ooredoo partners with Ericsson proudly present study case demonstration of 5G usage, particularly the first 3D Augmented Reality experience in Indonesia which allows innovation in various industries, such as education and health care,” he explained.

The 5G technology’s test bed has reached 10Gbps per EU (User Equipment) of a total 20Gbps. It also has beam tracking, 5G’s top skill that allows higher capacity and performance. In addition, this technology also provides 4K videos to the EU via 5G radio.

On the other hand, 3D-AR technology intends to present deeper interaction and experience with virtual objects looking alive like a realistic photo of human’s anatomy and 360-degree images of planet Earth.

Indosat Ooredoo and Ericsson also introduced a demo of 5G deployment considerations and connected drones to be tested from long distance or using the current flight path.

“5G represents major cellular technology evolution that allows new possibility and application. We believe the 5G technology to play a leading role in the digital transformation in Indonesia. Ericsson partners with Indosat Ooredoo to improve network and quality for customers. In this demonstration, we expect a crystal figure of 5G benefits in our lives, and how Ericsson and Indosat Ooredoo to continue this partnership in bringing our best work to improve network quality in Indonesia,” Jerry Soper, Ericsson Indonesia’s President Director, said.
