Using OVO's E-Money License, GrabPay Is Back in Service / Grab

Grab is making use of OVO’s e-money license to get GrabPay back in service. It’s fully available per (12/14), after being temporarily frozen by Bank Central since October 16th, 2017.

“Starting today, Grab customer can top-up GrabPay credits and using it,” said GrabPay Southeast Asia’s Managing Director Jason Thompson, quoted from Katadata.

The return of GrabPay cannot be separated from company collaboration under Lippo Group. OVO is already has e-money license from Bank Indonesia since August 22, 2017 with PT Visionet International as legal entity. Before the collaboration with OVO, Grab also provided delivery logistic for MatahariMall.

Following GrabPay’s return (with new branding “GrabPay, powered by OVO”), Grab customer can now top-up in many ways, by driver, supermarket, local bank and ATM, also credit card.

Besides providing online payment options, Grab and OVO will collaborate in using their partnership technology and network to develop a finest and safest mobile payment platform following customer’s demand.

OVO is not only capable of various financial transaction such as merchant payment, top-up and check balance. It also provides loyalty program in every transaction with partnered merchants.

“E-money license given to OVO provides a great opportunity for us in creating
various financial solution to get involved in Indonesia’s National Cashless
Movement (GNNT) development. We will continue to approach customers, merchants and regulators, to provide innovative e-money products and services following customer’s dynamic needs,” OVO’s CEO, Adrian Suherman, said a while ago.
