Ericsson Supports Smart City Acceleration in Jakarta

After appointing the new President Director for Indonesia, Ericsson voiced its focus on contributing by sharing initiatives which may shape better future through IT skills that gets adopted in various industries.

As one of tech-based companies, Ericsson offers software and infrastructure solution that focus on mobility, broadband, and cloud. The team were positive that technology can accelerate the growth of economy, environment, and social in cities. It affects the growth of GDP, energy consumption optimation, and e-services procurement.

“At Ericsson we employ our IT knowledge to provide innovative service and solution in various industries that have the potential to contribute in the development of sustainable city. During the New Cities Summit in Jakarta, we will exchange views with decision makers, owners and innovators on how a city may take every opportunity offered by technology,” said Ericsson’s Head of Industry & Society Orvar Hurtig.

In the New Cities Summit which is held from June 9 to 11, Ericsson’s representatives will share their views on the adoption of technology and urbanization with stakeholders in Jakarta. Ericsson is one of founders of the New Cities Foundation, a foundation that implements the concept of technology to present innovative solution and services for various industries.

As the pioneer of Networked Society, Ericsson introduced the ‘Sustainable City’ concept. Sustainable City is a city that has long-term plans to overcome the challenges of economy, social and environment that emerge because of the people’s density, improperly narrow areas, and limited resources.

The ‘smart city’ initiative indeed is one of many concepts that global tech industry titans are currently promoting. Ericsson started the campaign in materializing Sustainable City by introducing the Emergency Response Communications in Brazil, Russia, Spain, and Sweden.

“Every city has different challenges. In Jakarta, the initiation is still in the phase of ensuring proper internet access. From this day on, we’re ready to provide consultation, of what can be reached, as well as recommendation to meet collective interests,” Ericsson’s Head of Marketing and Communications Stephanie Huf told in her press release.
