The SparxUp Fowab Mobile Commerce seminar that is a cooperation between SparxUp Awards and FOWAB was held on February 24th, 2012. The event was held in Bandung Digital Valley (BDV).
The event was attended by over 100 people from various circles, students and developers. The event took the theme of Mobile Commerce and it presented the speaker: Pambudi Baskara (Samsung), Ivan Hudyana (blibli), from Biznet and from Onigi (previously Mysellr) as well as representatives of BDV and FOWAB.
The event was opened by Johanes Adi Purnama as representatives of BDV. In addition to explain the BDV various programs such as seminars, workshops and other activities for BDV members or public, John also explained about some opportunities that could be used by those who joined BDV.
One of these opportunities relates to Telkom AppStore consisting Flexi Market, Telkomsel Market and Speedy Market and upcoming mobile advertising platform. People who joined BDV Community can develop their products for the application store.
After the speaker’s representation of Biznet, event continued with the speaker of Blibli.com, Ivan Hudyana (Head of Marketing Blibli.com). He explained about the development of e-commerce ranging from e-commerce 1.0 to e-commerce 3.0, where e-commerce 3.0 incorporates several amenities such as promotions and coupons, loyalty, mobile commerce, self and self scanning checkout, the list of goods, payment, etc. E-commmerce 3.0: shopping is everywhere.
Ivan also explained about the Blibli’s choice that prefers the mobile site for their users. One of the reasons is because mobile apps needs continuously update, and because users are quickly get bored, mobile apps required more effort from the company to constantly update the mobile application. So the choice for service to the consumer is presented by the mobile site.
Ivan also said while answering the questions from participants, that the current challenge for the payment still appears in Indonesia. E-commerce is sufficiently advanced but the payment system is still not good enough. Ivan also thought that there is currently no total ecosystem for e-commerce.
The next speaker is Pambudi Baskara (Application Specialist Samsung Electronics Indonesia). Pam’s presentation this time was quite interesting because the previous presentation discussed payment via mobile devices and Pam actually said that mobile commerce isn’t always about mobile payment.
So the one that to be focused is to make a mobile-friendly online store, to accommodate the payment in accordance with the market to be achieved, including payment options tailored to the community or store target. There are several things should be considered in the development of mobile commerce, that are to educate consumers that shop isn’t always physical, the second is expand social communities through mobile strore, extend store by pursing the specific needs to expand the market, then as the money is a sensitive case, let consumers choose to pay with their own way, and the last is capitalizing on the trend of applications and services trending.
At the end of his presentation, Pam also challenged attendees to develop an online application store to be distributed in Samsung’s App Store, Samsung will help the promotion.
Final presentation made by Onigi (previously Mysellr) describing their product as the winners of SparxUp Awards. The event closed with a presentation from Yohan – FOWAB explained about GeekFest event at the end of this March, this event will be held together with KibarKreasi.
Although the presentation wasn’t merely focus on mobile commerce, but several points remain attractive because it came from the speakers who deal directly with the commerce problem, including mobile commerce. This event was also attended by the BDV members and was also the first public event in Bandung Digital Valley (and certainly isn’t the last event). FOWAB, Mikti, BDV and DailySocial are also planning other events in BDV.
Disclosure: DailySocial is one of the SparxUp Awards organizers.
