Yahoo! Indonesia today officially announced its new Country Ambassador and Sales Director, Roy Arnold Simangunsong who came to Yahoo from IBM and previously Microsoft. His responsibilities are primarily centered around driving online advertising strategies, sales, opportunities, and growth and he is also filling the role previously held by Pontus Sonnerstedt. He joined Yahoo! Indonesia in December 2011.
Speaking about his new role, he said, “I want to focus on local relevance and bringing value to both our customers and the Indonesian audience”. He identifies four key area that will grow Yahoo in Indonesia and these are niche segments, partnerships with clients and advertisers, investing in innovative products and content, and investing in people.
In the past year, Yahoo! Indonesia has launched Koprol for Business, Yahoo! Post, Ramadhan Mubarak microsite, Buka Dunia and Style Factor.
Buka Dunia is a campaign to show Yahoo!’s commitment to the country to introduce and educate Indonesians, especially school students about the benefits in using the Internet.
Style Factor is a fashion site developed in collaboration with consumer products company P&G and has been renewed for 2012.
With Simangunsong at the helm, it is clear that Yahoo! Indonesia aims to grow by maximize advertising revenue and exposure for its clients. Its media products such as Style Factor and Ramadhan Mubarak have been geared towards generating ad sales and client engagements.
During his welcome speech on Wednesday morning at Yahoo! Indonesia’s office, he spoke a lot about Indonesia’s internet growth, market segmentation, advertising, and partnerships. Yahoo! Indonesia plans to deliver online advertising through various forms including video, mobile, 3D and interactive media.
