Apple’s latest innovation, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, along with their newly-developed operating system (iOS 8), has brought all developers a new hope to use their latest technology. In fact, the behemoth has provided developers a complete guidance on how to design their apps effectively and efficiently, so that they won’t get lost in the process.

As stated on the Apple Developer page, Apple highlights three most common mistakes that lead to the app’s failure of getting approval : technical issue, contents, and interface.

Technical Issue

This is what Apple labels as “the point that developers should concern the most”. The company keeps reminding developers to conduct a series of self-tests to anticipate any crashes and bugs that may occur. Should developers intend to put any links to their apps, they must make sure that those links are active and continuously updated. This indicates that Apple won’t even think about approving apps that still possess technical issues.

Contents

The content quality and services are the second point that Apple emphasized on. Apple asks developers to attach the most appropriate and correct description to their apps. It’s very crucial to get this right in order to avoid bad user experience, which may lead to users complaints.

Before submitting their apps, developers must also make sure that their attached ads and banner won’t bring any inconvenience to the users. Apple will automatically reject an app if its utilization of Advertising Identifier (IDFA) doesn’t work well.

That being said, Apple would also highly assess the apps’ quality as well. The company advises developers to keep their apps unique to enhance their chances of being included to the store. Don’t even think to register a number of different apps which, actually, serve the same services, as Apple will definitely reject them without any hesitation.

Interface

Apple clearly works on its own level, as it sets a really strict standard to the apps’ interface. A full information of this standard is available here or here. In short, all apps should apply the typical iOS interface aesthetic.

Those are the steps that developers should take to enhance their chances of getting their apps displayed at the Apple App Store. iOS 8 itself is planned to hit the market on September 17. The latest technology will bring a number of new features, including the “family sharing” and “smart keyboard” features.
