These Are the Winners of BlackBerry’s “Smart City Apps”

Finally, the winners of “Smart City Apps” competition initiated by BlackBerry Innovation  Center (BBIC) and Bandung Technological Institute (ITB) is revealed today (28/10). After a series of strict judging and selection processes which were started last May, BlackBerry finally announced the winners, who are classified into give categories: Smart City, Smart Health, Smart Education, Smart Payment, and Smart Enterprise.

BlackBerry holds the “Smart City” competition to give local developers opportunities to give their best shot and innovate creating apps in order to respond people’s daily problems.

Kusuma Lienandjaja, BlackBerry Indonesia’s Director of General Relations, emphasized in his release that the competition is a token of BlackBerry’s commitment to support local developers utilizing technology for improving urban people’s lifestyle.

“We believe that by letting them innovating and showing their talents, developers may make Indonesia a better place to live and work,” he stated.

In line with Lienandjaja, Prof. Dr. Ir. Suhono Harso Supangkat, M.Eng, CGEIT, LPIK ITB and BBIC ITB’s head, added, “they (participants)are highly enthusiast to learn new things and motivated to contribute to Indonesia’s education, health, and other field’s development. So far, BlackBerry and ITB have been simply fantastic, hopefully that we can make this country a better place together.”

To enter the competition, the ‘smart city’ apps must fulfill certain requirements, including the ‘Built for BlackBerry’ guide and BlackBerry 10 User Interface. The judges consist of BlackBerry’s executive board members and external experts.

The winner for ‘Smart City Jakarta’ category is “Floo Ride Sharing for Better Mobility” app by Ricky Kurniawan and Edwin Bernadus. Placed second in this category is “Low Energy Bluetooth-based Tracker” app by David Samuel and Giri Kuncoro.

In the ‘Smart Health’ category, Bilsly Koesoemadinata’s “Sportpal” came on top and “Smart Hospital” by Susetyo Bagas Bhaskoro and Tubagus came second.

As for the ‘Smart Education’, Ratna Palupi’s “Borrow Books” is placed first. The runner-up of this category is “Growth” by Rani Megasari, Bayu Erfianto, and Seno Adiputra.

In ‘Smart Payments’ category, “Bayareen” by Andy Primawan, Setyo Legowo, and Taufik came out glorious, followed by “Slice Promo” by Hanif Lyonnais and Irfan Kamil.

The last category, ‘Smart Enterprise’ has Helmi Argubi’s “Secure Survey” as its first winner and I Putu Arya D’s “Mobile Cashier” as its second winner.

All the first winners will get Rp 30 million each, and the runner-ups will receive Rp 10 million. The main winner will get an additional Rp 70 million prize.
