After successful satellite events in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, e27’s Echelon comes to Indonesia this week courtesy of the #startuplokal community. Echelon is of course one of Asia’s largest technology events where brand new startups vie for recognition and success by showcasing their skills, ideas, talents and products in front of a panel of judges.
The Jakarta event will be held this Friday at fCone, fX Lifestyle X’Nter from lunch time until 5pm. Attendance is free and you can register here. There will also be a People’s Choice Award in addition to the official judging.
The following are startups that will pitch on Friday for a chance to be one of the ten startups pitching at the main event in Singapore in June.
SixReps
Headed by Denny Santoso and Sanny Gaddafi, SixReps, as per its own tagline, is a social network for fitness and sports enthusiasts. Members are encouraged to post photos and updates relating to their gym sessions to help them track their progress and meet their goals. SixReps has a printable passport which allows members to receive deals and promos from participating fitness centers.
Tasterous
The brainchild of Ronald Ishak and Deche Pangestu, Tasterous is a location-based game that revolves around food. Tasterous will challenge members to discover and share specific dishes as they go on gastronomic journeys.
Rockto
This social bookmarking or recommendation site developed by Mustafa Kemal and Errol Widhavian provides facilities to share different kinds of content with other users of the site. Rockto also has an embeddable button that can be placed on websites and awards badges for those who frequently use the service.
Goorme
This food portal developed by PT. Sitoes Indonesia offers food-related information. Users may receive various kinds of articles about food, dining places, recipes as well as promotional offers. Goorme also delivers location-based search to help users find particular restaurants and nearby food joints.
PriceArea
This is a search engine to hunt for specific products. This service lets users enter certain keywords to find prices, specifications, and other information related to the search terms. The data is processed based on information from several websites and merchants that offer those products for sale. PriceArea also has a news section related to the categories of products and offers available on the site.
Bouncity
Bouncity is a location-based gaming platform that presents players with challenges and rewards to those who check-in to locations and perform specified tasks such as taking pictures, writing reviews, comments, and more. Merchants and partners can take advantage of the gaming element to drive promos, brand activations, and receive direct feedback from customers.
Infoll
This is a user-generated road and traffic information system for a number of cities in Indonesia. Previously based on Twitter, Infoll is moving towards a web-based service accessible by those who aren’t necessarily using Twitter, with a preference towards those on mobile devices.
NgaturDuit
Developed by Api Perdana and Adhito Priyambodo, ngaturduit is a web-based financial tracking service. Recently updated with additional features, the service partners with a Jakarta-based financial planning company. Ngaturduit also offers graphical representations of financial transactions, as well as consulting and investment advice.
Wooz.in
Founded by Ramya Prajna of digital agency Think.Web, Wooz.in aims to streamline check-ins and provide actual presence verification by using a RFID or NFC-based devices. Check-ins are shareable to other services such as Foursquare and Gowalla.
Rserve.me
Rserve is a customizable online reservation system that can be embedded on websites. Reservation can be in the form of hotels, tickets, tables, or just about anything that can be reserved.
The judging panel will be made up of the following people: Martin Hartono (GDP Ventures), Shinta Danuwardoyo (Nusantara Ventures), Aulia Halimatussadiah (Nulisbuku), Andrew Darwis/Danny Oei (Kaskus), Satya Witoelar (Yahoo! Koprol), and myself.
Foreign judges will include: Edgar Hardless (SingTel Innov8), Colin Charles (hacker, investor), Kenny Mathers (Nokia), and one unannounced judge.
