Tech in Asia has published Techlist, a database compilation of startups in Asia, especially Southeast Asia, which helps investors to catch up with startups’ trend and growth. The freemium service took a part in 2015 Y Combinator winter batch and claimed to have already had more than 1000 Asian companies listed on its database. In total, Asian startups gathered around $988 million of disclosed funding in 2014.
According to Willis Wee, Tech in Asia’s Founder, 50% of the data were listed by machine and technology, 40% are men’s works, and 10% by the founders themselves. While focusing on Southeast Asia and East Asia, including Indonesia, users may have a look at the information of startups’ founders, disclosed funding, as well as numerous social and traffic metric.
With $399/seat/month, users may access broader information, such as founders’ background, employee growth, traffic and social media growth, and funding history. Techlist, the Asian version of AngelList or CrunchBase, claimed that they have had more than 100 investors signing up in the past three weeks, some of them are even paying clients.
As for the involvement of Techlist in Y Combinator’s Winter batch as the only Southeast Asian startup there, Wee hoped that it will benefit them and enable them to be a better entrepreneur as well as broaden their network.
