The competition between mobile browsers offers its own excitement. As per March 2015, UC Browser was crowned as the most popular mobile browser in Indonesia, surpassing Opera which has been in the position for years.
In our previous report, the average of UC Browser utilization among Indonesians in 2014 was named the third mostly used mobile browser. As time goes by, UC Browser grows and claims the second position. In March 2015, based on StatCounter data, the platform’s marketshare in Indonesia reached 28,5%, while Opera’s only touched 23,45%, followed by Chrome (16,97%).
The utilization of UC Browser started growing after the Android version of it was made available in Bahasa Indonesia back in 2012. At the moment, more than 85% UC browser users access the service through Android-based devices.
“We are currently increasing the local talents that may collaborate in facing this vast growth. The formation of our local team is now a fundamental agenda. We are also looking for more and more content providers and local services that can partner with us, so that we may grow one ecosystem that benefits all parties involved, offer more options for our users and more mobile traffic for our partners,” said UC Web Indonesia’s Head Jonathan Zhong in his press release we received (16/4).
