It’s the end of August, which means Sparxup is coming up, bigger and better. Our annual technology conference and startup competition will be held from 3 to 5 October this year and will have a hackathon in addition to the established conference and competition events. Foursquare, Evernote and Nokia are on board this year to provide API and other resources for hackathon participants. This year’s Sparxup will also feature a wide range of speakers from various technology and media companies.
Since the first time it was held, Sparxup has always been about startups and this year we’re continuing that tradition to select and feature more than 20 finalists from a pool of applicants vying to showcase their products in front of a judging panel. The difference in this year’s startup competition is that Sparxup will hold a demo day. Instead of presenting ideas and business plans with a slide deck like in years past, startups this year will show either a working prototype or a final product. It’s all about the execution.
The Sparxup conference continues to be a forum for technology and media companies to share their views about the state of their industries, on innovation, breakthroughs, and to generally share their knowledge. Speakers range from companies such as Foursquare, Evernote, Netprice, Groupon, Microsoft, Yahoo and many more.
Lastly, this year’s Sparxup features a hackathon which will draw resources from Nokia, Foursquare and Evernote, for up to 30 participants. Selected participants will have 15 hours to create and develop an application or a service using one or more of the available platforms. Winners will be determined by peers as well as judges and announced at the awarding night alongside the startups categories.
Thanks to Infinys System and Microsoft, Sparxup 2012 will be held on 3-5 October at Mandiri Tower, Plaza Bapindo in South Jakarta. For more information, visit the Sparxup website.
