Ice House, the software development company set up by former Yahoos may have acquired SITTI, or at least has made some sort of a talent arrangement with the company that once made an open challenge to Google*. An email we received described the relationship as having Ice House talents powering up the SITTI engine. It may not be an acquisition but it begs the question of whether Ice House will have time to work on other client projects, although we are actually hearing word of an acquisition.
Ice House is the company set up by two of the three Koprol founders, Fajar Budiprasetyo and Daniel Armanto. Backed by Pacific Technology Partners, Ice House’s primary business is developing applications for clients. Its founding team had been the former Yahoo Indonesia engineers and designers that chose not to jump to another company when the layoff announcement was made.
SITTI is the brainchild of Andy Sjarif, former advertising executive who decided to make the jump to the digital scene. It runs contextual text ads based on Indonesian words and it has been very quiet since 2010. The rooftop space that Ice House occupies actually belongs to SITTI.
*an earlier version of this story had an editorial mistake that described the acquisition the other way around.
