Rumour had it that Singapore’s largest media network MediaCorp has signed a MoU upon signing KapanLagi Network (KLN). KLN’s CEO Steve Christian when asked for confirmation said he’s not giving comment on rumor.
It’s not the first time such rumor is heard of. Last November, Bareksa reported that MediaCorp was after the shares of KLN’s news portal, Merdeka. The deal was reported to bring along the possession of KapanLagi and Bola.net as well. For that matter, MediaCorp’s team was said to had finalized the due diligence during its visit to Merdeka’s office.
In August 2013, IndoTelko rolled out that EMTEK Group had its interests set on KLN, even though the news didn’t get any further due to the incapability to meet KLN’s asked price.
This year, the issue of acquisition got bigger after KLN and Channel NewsAsia, MediaCorp’s subsidiary, collaborated in producing Channel News Asia’s latest TV program, Start-UP, in Indonesia. KLN also got the opportunity to launch its KLN Play incubator.
MediaCorp, Temasek’s subsidiary, is probably on the course of positioning itself to be the leading media in Southeast Asia and Indonesia with no less than 250 million loyal viewers in the region. It surely is a badass business.
The latest business maneuver by KLN was its merger with Fimela Group a year ago. We would certainly update you should any further info gets confirmed.
