Today, on February 14, Rovio will launch Angry Birds Facebook in Jakarta. Jakarta was chosen to be the launch city as it is considered the capital of Facebook in which the number of users are the largest in the world, at least according to SocialBakers. This is an important moment that places the country in the global Internet market. At the moment Indonesia is third behind the US and India in terms of Facebook members.
Angry Birds has been an extremely popular game series that has made its way to various platforms including Google+. The series has been downloaded more than 700 million times and is expected to break the one million mark this year.
The event in Jakarta will be centered at Mal Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta, at Atrium Mal Kelapa Gading 2 to be precise. Present at the launch will be Senior VP Rovio Asia Henri Holm. Holm is based in Hong Kong and has been in Indonesia since the end of January to participate in several events including the launch of Nokia Asha 300 which has an Angry Birds game preloaded. Mighty Eagle Peter Vesterbacka had mentioned several times previously that Rovio had chosen Jakarta as the launch city.
While it is not mentioned in the promotional material, this launch is supported by AHA from Bakrie Telecom. Check out the banner below.
