Marketplace is currently mushrooming in Indonesia, riding on the vast growth of e-commerce in the country, thus providing Indonesians with various price. This is where the Android-based PricePolice mobile app plays its part, which is to help users finding the best available price with push notification feature that will alarm users should any changes affecting the price takes place.
The team behing PricePolice, Devmite, actually make use of the Indonesian youngsters’ activeness in social media. Regarding them as tech-savvy enough, the team look to add more social concept to their online shopping habit.
To utilize the app, users only need to enter the link of specific product or simply share the URL directly from the mobile browser (or e-commerce service’s app) to their installed PricePolice app. The app will then notify users should there is any changes affecting the product’s price, be it in form of discount or flash sale.
Users may also monitor other users’ desired items. Devmite’s Co-Founder Indri Yunita told DailySocial, “We emphasize on facilitating users to monitor the price of their desired products. Once they start using it, we’ll start introducing them to other features.”
There has yet been any specific strategy being employed by PricePolice to attract more users. In our opinion, since their service is a user-generated content, the developer should be directly involved in the field, promote more on social media, or target communities to promote PricePolice.
Regarding Devmite’s current operational, Yunita responded, “Devmite covers all PricePolice-related expenses (bootstrapping). We might look for investors to fund our operational cost.”
Devmite targeted to launch PricePolice officially in five months from now, while it’s been available in beta version and the team’s still working on fixing bugs at the moment. PricePolice is currently downloadable from Google Play with no further information on its availability on other platforms.
Yunita expected that PricePolice will get better development and get users from outside of Indonesia this year. She stated, “PricePolice’s short-term targets are: (1) to develop the features and do several tweakings to give it more intutive look. With a solid product base, getting users will be easy. (2) gain user base in Southeast Asia, particularly to get at least 100.000 downloads for this beta version.”
