E3 ialah momen diungkapnya detail beragam game kelas blockbuster serta disingkapnya hardware gaming baru. Event tahun ini sendiri memang terasa lebih condong pada konten, meski Microsoft sempat mengonfirmasi pengembangan Project Scarlet. E3 2018 sudah rampung, tetapi tak sedikit gamer yang menanti pengumuman Game Critics Awards.
Game Critics Awards adalah ajang pemberian penghargaan tahunan yang dilangsungkan setelah E3 usai. Penghargaan tersebut diberikan oleh penyelenggara secara independen pada judul-judul permainan terbaik yang dipamerkan di sana, biasanya mengusung tajuk ‘Best of E3’. Dan untuk E3 2018, satu permainan remake garapan Capcom berhasil menyabet award paling bergengsi.

Resident Evil 2 merupakan sebuah remake besar-besaran, dibangun ulang berbekal engine Resident Evil 7 dan menyajikan perspektif baru. Sistem kendali ala tank di game terdahulu digantikan dengan kamera orang ketiga ‘over-the-shoulder‘ mirip Resident Evil 5 dan 6. Konsepnya terdengar menjanjikan. Namun walaupun RE2 membawa pulang Best of E3 2018, beberapa game seperti Anthem, Spider-Man, The Last of US Part II dan Cyberpunk 2077 memenangkan lebih dari satu award. Di E3 2018, favorit saya pribadi adalah Cyberpunk 2077 dan Ghost of Tsushima.
