OPPO’s massive investment would finally soon to be paid off. The establishment of its factory in Indonesia has finally entered the later phase, as OPPO has completed the ground breaking of the 27.000 square meters factory in Tangerang, Banten. The projected factory will be OPPO’s first one outside China.
The smartphone manufacturer had to spend $30 million or around Rp 374 billion to see the factory standing. The money mostly went to the purchase of one of sport apparel giants’ abandoned factory and its renovation.
OPPO now expects to have 500.000 units of smartphones produced within a month.
The company’s decision to establish its own factory in Indonesia followed a series of delightful results that it got from the Indonesian market, in which OPPO has successfully covered 6% of the market.
Indonesia OPPO Electronics’ CEO Jet Lee specifically stated that the background of the establishment was the increasing level of Indonesians’ enthusiasm towards smartphone in general, and OPPO’s products in particular. Lee also suggested that every single product produced in the factory will have to go through series of quality testing procedures before being officially thrown to the market.
“We are really proud of the realization of this project, marked by this procession. The factory renovation reflects our commitment to invest in Indonesia,” Lee further mentioned.
The renovation process is expected to take 4 months, meaning that the factory will, according to the blueprint, start operating this coming April 2015. Besides focusing on the main building, OPPO is also preparing a number of supporting infrastructures, such as storage and production lines.
