International smartphone vendor Oppo tries to fulfill its social responsibility by facilitating Indonesian startups with Rp 300 mill investment through its “Oppo Initiator – Ideas, Rolling, Action!” program. This follows Oppo’s decision to establish a mobile assembling factory in Indonesia, that will start operating this coming March.
This was confirmed by Oppo Indonesia’s CEO Jet Lee in the Startup Asia event yesterday (26/11). He mentioned that it’s always been Oppo’s desire to help the startup ecosystem in Indonesia to grow. Through Oppo Initiator, Oppo wishes to inspire and encourage startups to turn their wildest creative ideas into reality.
“Oppo believes that everything big starts from something small. Even though they’ve just run their business for couple of years, their entrepreneurship mentality will surely help them developing the business. Oppo started off as a startup, and look at us now, one of global smartphone companies,” Lee claimed.
So, if you are one of those who have bright ideas to develop a startup, it would be much wiser for you to form a group of maximum five talents and upload your idea in form of one minute short video to Youtube before December 10, 2014. You would be able to watch all uploaded videos by accessing Oppo’s official website. Please do note that startups that aged more than two years are not eligible to participate in the program.
Ten finalists will be chosen and announced on December 12, 2014.The final round, where finalists do the pitching in front of the judges, will be held on December 17, 2014. Besides getting invested, the winner will also be awarded Oppo smartphone devices as well as an ooportunity to pay a visit to Oppo’s factory in China and meet with successful startup founders there.
“With ‘ideas, rolling, action!’ as our tagline, we encourage startups to be creative and turn their ideas into reality. Startup Asia Jakarta is an event to search for best ideas,” Jet Lee consluded.
