The concept of ride sharing is starting to spread around big cities in Indonesia. Many were inspired from there to make similar services or other innovations. Form of innovation from the ride sharing concept invasion is presented by Migo in Surabaya. With digital technology, Migo provides e-bike rental service. The solution is claimed to be the first in Indonesia.
Migo tries to facilitate users in ordering and payment. For reservations, user can just scan the QR Code on every bike. These things can be done through the Migo app available on Google Play and the App Store.
“Migo has technological advantages different from other transportation. Start from the registration, the top-up process, opening, locking up, until restoring Migo to the station can be done just by a smartphone in hand,” said Migo’s team member, Tony Chandra.
Migo provides approximately 100 points of substation scattered around Surabaya. On these substations, users can rent and return their bikes. For the rent cost, Migo set it based on kilometers at affordable prices to the public.
Migo applies Rp2,000 base rate for the first 2 kilometres. Afterwards, users will be charged Rp.500 per kilometre. Whereas, waiting or stopping charges are set to Rp500 per 15 minutes. Waiting or stopping charges are valid from 06.00 to 20.00.
“Currently Migo has approximately 100 points of substation scattered throughout Surabaya. If you want to know the substation points above, you can directly download Migo app via Play Store or App Store. Substations as Migo partners act as an extension of Migo’s hand in providing electric bike units and ready to serve customers,” said Tony.
Right now Migo has already acquired 2000 registered users with 1000 active user on average. By the end of this year, Migo plans to add 50 new substations to ease the access.
