Kartumuu.com is preparing new things for its services, including the plan to pivot its business model which previously focused on social media now it will focus on e-commerce.
Previously, Kartumuu was a service which provided its costumers to send digital greeting card. Currently, its website is under maintenance in order to prepare its new look and strategy.
Hadikusuma Wahab, also known as Dhiku, founder of Kartumuu, explained in an email that Kartumuu’s new business model will be selling printed greeting card. With the new tagline ‘Delivering Feelings’, Dhiku believes that with the growing digital media to deliver message then there’s a time where people will feel nostalgic to express their feelings with printed cards. Kartumuu wants to take this chance.
They already conducted a survey to produce a good result of printed greeting card. Later, Kartumuu will provide a range of facilities in its new service, such as choosing/uploading your own design, custome message, up to card delivery to the addressee. Target markets are individuals and companies.
If you visit Kartumuu’s site now, you will find an invitation for designers to send their greeting card designs. The designers can sell their designs which, if it fits, will be purchased by Kartumuu, Rp 500.000 for 3 designs or multiple thereof. Complete TOC can be downloaded from this link. While preparing for the completion of the web development, Kartumuu gathers these designs. Its Twitter account is pretty active in promoting this program.
Business model pivoting that made is explained by Dhiku as not only to the extent of trying but it has prepared measures to change the strategy and business model. One is to focus on its core assets, namely the design. Kartumuu invites designers to collaborate on creating greeting cards. One of them by getting them to send the design to be purchased by Kartumuu, as described above. Dhiku also said that later on, Kartumuu will hold various events that will involve designers.
Design and creative work has become one of the opportunities that can be utilized by a variety of internet-based services. Previously, there were GantiBaju and other services on T-shirt designs, Sribu.com for design services marketplace and the most recent, there’s Kreavi.com.
The development of design work in Indonesia is also very rapid and is increasing. It’s interesting to see how this opportunity would be utilized by Kartumuu. Design for greeting cards, as far as I know, has not explored by services like Kartumuu.com
Other surprise from Kartumuu, other than the detail on service that is been prepared, is that the designer from UI who designs its new website is not a stranger in Indonesia’s startup world, so I think it’s save to hope that the new design look will be fun, both from the design and the user experience. Plus, there’s a hint in relation to Kartumuu’s collaboration with name card printing service.
So, let’s wait the official release of Kartumuu.com’s new look and service. If you’re interested in sending in your design, you can go to this link.
