KadoButa for You Who Loves Surprises as Gifts

Many of us find some difficulties when choosing a present. There seems to be no present suitable to be given to our spouse, family, friends or colleagues. Rather than thinking about it, why not letting someone else do it for you? KadoButa is an example of startup which dares to offer creativity for this kind of thing. This startup will help us to choose a present.

Generally, the look of this website is pretty interesting. But the highlight here is the process behind the screen. How does KadoButa’s creative team choose a present and send it to the person we want to give it to? They are the one who make sure that the present will be surprising and meet your expectation.

KadoButa is founded by Erick Putra Saudjana and Johannes Indaheng as the co-founder. How they work is interesting. We pay for one of the packages available, namely KadoButa Silver (worth IDR99,000) or KadoButa Gold (worth IDR199,000). We can order in multiple depends on our needs. Then, KadoButa team will choose a present and send it to the submitted address. The surprise lies here, both us and the person we want to give a present do not know of the
content until the present is received.

It’s safe to say that the one being anxious here is the person who order the present; will the present suits the person or not. Moreover, the present purchased cannot be refund or exchangeable, except when there is production failure. The decision of whether the person who order will be satisfied (and order more) is on stake here. That’s why the price of the package is quite affordable. Imagine if the price reached a million and it turns out to be something not nice?

Only with personal details of name, sex and age (and this is optional), I honestly think that the bet is quite risky. Take a woman, for instance. Her interest is specific, not limited to merely a bag or shoe but also personal preferences like color, design and size. My guess is the creative team avoids giving present with personal taste because the data is not enough. The present will be quite general.

If they want to be more specific, they can add a present preference column but that will ruin the element of surprise. Let KadoButa’s team take care of everything and turn every transaction into a field to defend their reputation.

So far, as Erick reported to Okezone, the market response is good. He says that 90% response well to the present. But of course the respondents are not varying due to it still being in the initial phase. The success of this product depends on the accomplishment of giving surprising present and well-received, even though with limited budget. Viral marketing, from mouth to mouth, on the present sent will be crucial.
