Issuing Regional Regulation, 11 Provinces Have Set Online Taxi Quota

Ministry of Transport has listed 11 provinces issuing regional regulation (perda) to organize online transportation.

The release is in accordance with government provision listed in Ministry of Transport Regulation (Permenhub) PM 108/2017 on The Implementation of People Transportation With Vehicles Not In Route, there are regulations regarding rental transportation in particular.

The provinces are DKI Jakarta through Jabodetabek’s Transportation Management Department (BPTJ), East Java, West Java, Central Java, North Sumatera, Lampung, South Sumatrera, West Sumatera, Bengkulu and East Borneo.

North Sumatra for example has set online taxi quota for 3.500 units, Lampung for 8 thousand units, East Java 4.445 units and Jabodetabek for 49.500 units.

Quoted from Bisnis, Land Transportation General Director Budi Setiyadi said its team has set boundaries for regional government to issue the regulations by the end of January 2018.

“Tolerance up to the end of January due to Ministry Regulations [PM] on February [yet to issue regulations] there will be an act,” he said.

East Java has officially authorized online taxi

East Java has recently operated rental vehicles in particular by setting Governor Regulation (Pergub) to organize online taxi quota operating only 4.445 units. The official released is marked by sticker patching as online taxi already obtained an operational permit from East Java Department of Transportation. “Up to this day, we only proceed licence for 113 units of nine companies,” said Wahid Wahyudi Head of Transportation Department on Thursday (1/4).
