It is a “present” perhaps for Foursquare users in Indonesia, the biggest “badge hunter” community. Live & Rockin organized by Ismaya Live collaborated with Research in Motion (RIM) promised to create exclusive badge BlackBerry Indonesia Swarm Badge 2011. The badge will be available for visitors who unlock the event’s location at JIExpo Hall A Kemayoran this March 19,2011.
Live & Rockin is a concert inviting artist from different countries and genre, like Suede, Taio Cruz, Shontelle, and 2PM. The last one is probably popular among KPop fans. Being sponsored by RIM, there’s a specific requirement that users must use BlackBerry smartphone. Tomorrow Ismaya Live will hold press conference on this event including confirmation on the BlackBerry smartphone ownership requirement. We will update you later on this.
Up to now there is now official confirmation from Foursquare about this exclusive badge – in their Twitter account or blog, but Tamtomo Daniswara as foursquare actuator in Indonesia seemed to be sure that this is an official badge. Swarm badge is a genre used by Foursquare where a number of people check in on the same place. Swarm badge is at first gone out to 50 people who check in on a same place, and it then developed into Super Swarm (250 people), Super Duper Swarm (500 people), and even Epic Swarm (1000 people).
Indonesia is Asia’s biggest Foursquare user – or perhaps even in the world (although there is yet to be the data on this). Aaron Koh, Singaporean blogger quoting data from appappeal.com said that there are 260 thousands of Foursquare users in Indonesia per February 2011. However the data base used was from Alexa.com that record websites statistic, while Foursquare is a mobile application, it’s not easy for Alexa to record data for Fourquare users accessing through their cellular phones.
Seeing that the badge reward is what attracts Foursquare users more to this application, it is only natural if Foursquare pays more attention. AFAIK, Fourquare’s Public Relation has been interacting with Indonesia’s Foursquare users thfough their mailing list, but what do Foursquare wish to do towards this community and what will become the conclusions of everything is worth the wait.
