Google App becomes more “Indonesian”. After the ‘OK Google’ feature got served in Indonesian, the company has just introduced Kartu Now which curates the trend of information in certain area.
“We provide the content to help users feeling more convenient in accessing the information they look for. The services is based on our most updated data,” said Google Indonesia’s Head of Marketing Veronica Utami, who’s just been in the position for a couple of months.
Her team claimed that the product is the first in the world. Riding on the momentum of Ramadan, Google Indonesia attempts to optimize the daily search trends which are regarded to be popular in the past two weeks.
“Google keeps anticipating the fact that Indonesia is one with the most significant smartphone growth in the world, in which netizens make use of their smartphone to make their daily routines simpler. Kartu Now will provide a whole new experience on Google App, where they may find the information they keep looking for,” Utami added.
The trend of curated information emphasizes on the ‘Plan’, ‘Food’, and ‘Entertainment’ segment. Google App’s Kartu Now will provide information which is mostly searched by users, like the prayer schedule, cooking recipe, and captivating videos that can be watched while waiting for breakfasting.
“Unlike the citizens of the U.S who tend to use the information for personal use, citizens of Asia, especially Indonesians, prefer to look for news based on the local trend. That’s what the Google Indonesia team convinced us, considering that Ramadan has triggered a rise in the search for food and entertainment,” stated Google Now’s Product Manager Joseph Kurachi Luk during the launching of Kartu Now.
Since the product just got adopted for the very first time, Google Indonesia doesn’t shut the possibility to keep presenting relevant information after Ramadan ends, focusing it on popular search like weather card, daily trends, and latest news.
“We expect this latest Kartu Now will provide better experience for netizens who use Google App to accompany them doing their daily activities. Our objective at Google is simple, to create products that can help them solving simple things, so that they can focus more on significant ones on a daily basis,” Utami concluded.
