Food and Beverages Are the main star of Daily Deals

Half of the deals offered by daily deals sites are offers for food and beverages. The other half is divided between other categories. This fact is revealed in the daily transaction data of daily deals throughout June to December 2011 released by Dealgoing.com.

Dealgoing collects transaction data from 10 daily deals sites that joined Dealgoing during June to December 2011 period. Disdus (Groupon Indonesia) and DealKeren (LivingSocial Indonesia) were among the daily deals sites.

From DealGoing’s review in a press release received by DailySocial, a fact is revealed that 3 deals with the biggest sales during the second half period of last year are in the food and beverage category. The best sellers are deals for Sour Sally’s voucher released by LivingSocial Indonesia (DealKeren) in December 2011 with a 50% discount (Rp26.000). The Sour Sally vouchers were sold 17 thousand vouchers, while in second position are Tortuga (65%, Rp28.000) released by LivingSocial Indonesia (DealKeren) in August 2011 and D’Crepes (50%, Rp10.000) is in the third position, released by Disdus in September 2011.

What is also interesting from DealGoing’s data is that total voucher sales during December 2011 reached the highest figure compared to previous months. This still happened even though the average of discount given by the offer in December is the lowest when compared with the average discount in the previous months.

From the result of this review, DealGoing is hoping it can provide an overview of daily deals market as well as insight for market participants and public in general. Unfortunately, it does not include data on the number of deals offered each month in that period so the DealGoing’s review does not answer a lot why December became the month with the highest number of voucher sales even though the average discount on that month is the lowest than other months.
