Paypal recently announce that they’re officially opening their global operations center in Malaysia. This facility will be the base to provide services and support for Paypal’s customers all across Asia and also to add financial services to supports Paypal’s global business.
Malaysia’s Deputy for Ministry of Trade and Industry, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said that the Malaysian government will always find new opportunities to simplify the transaction process for business in Malaysia, especially for Small Medium Enterprises (SME) and that Paypal as a global company can facilitate this.
Paypal’s Senior VP of Global Operations also said that the reason behind chosing Malaysia is the Human capital factor where Paypal needs a high quality talents to trained and serve their customers.
Right now Paypal has operation centers in Berlin, Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Dublin and of course in the US. Paypal Malaysia currently has 200 employees and planning to expand to 500 employees until the end of 2013.
It’s very obvious that the Malaysian government played a strong role in attracting foreign companies to invest in Malaysia in order to boost the economy. Still fresh in our minds about the controversy of RIM opening their factory in Malaysia, leaving economist and government official furious.
