Erwan Mace, founder of Singapore-based mobile apps development company Bitsmedia announced via email and on his blog yesterday that he will be joining Google as part of its developer relations team for Southeast Asia. His announcement means that he will be transferring iPhone and Android apps that Bitsmedia had released to other developers who may be interested, although he will be keeping Muslim Pro updated himself on his spare time.
Yesterday morning he changed his Twitter name from @bitsmedia to @erwanmace, as a sign of what was coming. In his blog he mentioned that he will be starting his new role at Google in six to 15 weeks. The reason for the delay is so that he can properly transfer ownership of his apps and sort out a number of other issues before he officially joins Google as Developer Relations, Program Manager for Southeast Asia.
Mace is a 15 year veteran of the digital industry. Prior to founding Bitsmedia he had been working for companies such as Akamai, Vivendi, and Alcatel as well as a couple of of startups, namely Soundbuzz, and Spray.
With the rapidly growing adoption of Android phones in the region as well as an increasing interest from mobile application developers, it is in Google’s best interest to expand its developer relations team to recognize and accommodate this growth.
