Indonesian mobile directory app Darisini announced that it will drop support for iOS 4 for its upcoming update. This decision perhaps came from discovering that a large majority of its users are already on iOS 5 and that it’s worth dropping support for iOS 4 for the sake of being able to take advantage of frameworks and services that are available only from iOS 5 onwards.
We’ll drop iOS 4.x in our next release. We only support 5.x (including iOS 6).

The app’s developer, @thomasarie, did say that it was based on running stats but he has not actually shared them. Given the rapid adoption of the latest version of iOS each time a new one is released, it’s certainly not that big of a risk to take.
@amasna will do. We decide to drop iOS 4 based on the running stats. Love the iOS adoption! | @darisiniapp — Thomas Arie Setiawan (@thomasarie) September 11, 2012
