Around this week, there’s an interesting Twitter account appeared in relation to hackerspace. Said Twitter account shows the appearance of HackerSpaceMDN – @HackerSpaceMDN.
It becomes interesting because in other towns like Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta, HackerSpace usually appear because of the existence of a community like FOWAB – Bandung, Suwec – Surabaya, and Bancakan 2.0 – Yogyakarta. As far as we know, Medan does not have such community (startup community). We tried to contact the @HackerSpaceMDN account to acquire more info.
After contacting the email, we uncovered that the initiators who built HackerSpaceMDN are the people active in the internet world and own a startup based in Medan. They are Wiltek Gozhali, Indra Halim, and Suhardi Wen. Of the four people, those of you who are active readers at the #StartupLokal mailing list must be familiar with Wiltek Gozhali who often interacts in the mailing list.
Wiltek, through an email, said that HackerSpaceMDN’s initiators are currently doing a search for venue for this co-working space, and collecting colleagues from creative community in Medan and doing a interest survey on the developers in Medan with the presence of this co-working space – the HackerSpaceMDN.
“I feel that, creative persons in Medan especially in the tech world, haven’t shown any impact. And I hope, in the future @HackerSpaceMDN can hold digital creative events like what our friends in Java did,” Wiltek explained to DailySocial. The vision of HackerSpaceMDN’s initiators is “Reliving digital industry in Medan” and the mission is “To Buils a healthy and productive creative digital co-working community”.
For you creative people in Medan and surrounding areas, be it from developer, designer, blogger, writer, architects, etc., who want to own a co-working space in HackerSpaceMDN, you can contact the names mentioned above so HackerSpaceMDN can be realized soon and can be a place for creative people in Medan to create.
Let’s wait for hackerspace presence in Medan.
