Bukalapak’s Co-Founder, Fajrin Rasyid is soon wearing a new title as Telkom Group’s Digital Business Director at the AGM held this afternoon (6/19). According to some media sources, Fajrin, who currently serves as President of Bukalapak, will replace Faizal R. Djoemadi as the Digital Business Director.
Fajrin, who’s turning 34 this year, is a “millennial” director whose identity was revealed by SOE Minister Erick Thohir a few days ago.
The arrival of Fajrin into Telkom Group will be a sign of the end of an era in Bukalapak. Bukalapak became Indonesia’s first unicorn startup runs without a single co-founder in the management boards.
Previously, this unicorn-titled marketplace and one of the biggest in Indonesia had been left by two of its co-founders, Achmad Zaky and Nugroho Herucahyono, who resigned from the company earlier this year and together built the Init-6 venture capital company.
Fajrin, according to our source, became the chosen one among four startup candidates who were said to have taken part in the fit and proper test. He has an information technology education background and worked at BCG, a well-known business consultant. His profile somehow fits into Telkom’s DNA to remain relevant in the future in the digital industry.
Telkom Group currently has a variety of digital units, including the marketplace business Blanja (as a result of a partnership with eBay) and the LinkAja digital payment platform. Fajrin’s arrival in Telkom Group is expected to encourage the implementation of fresh-better innovative ideas.
