Budi Putra did not waste much time in revealing his next project after announcing that he was leaving Yahoo! a short while ago. While he won’t leave the Sunnyvale-based company for another couple of weeks, he has already called for individuals who would be interested in joining his next venture.
As we correctly predicted, his next project, or one of his next projects I should say, is a blog covering a wide range of topics with a large number of full time writers and contributors. Specifically, he’s looking for writers covering the fields of technology, science, business, finance, media, lifestyle, entertainment, culture, and the arts. If you’re a sports blogger, fret not, that category falls under lifestyle section, he said to DailySocial. He also said that the blog will be in Indonesian (darn, that counts me out), although it may change depending on the readers and future opportunities.
The new blog is set to launch in July following the submission deadline of June 10. Coincidentally this is right around the time he founded Asia Blogging Network four years ago.
After leaving Tempo in 2007, Budi Putra went straight to blogging and founded the network consisting of several prominent bloggers at the time among the 70 blogs he had collected. Unfortunately it was too large and too widespread to maintain, it officially shut down last year although some of the former members of the network remain blogging independently.
When we asked about ABN, he said that he’s going to focus on this new Indonesian blog, which has yet to have a name, before determining what to do with the asiablogging domain that is now unused. If you’ve been blogging for at least six months, have a specific topic of interest and are interested in joining his new blog project, you can head over to his blog and check out the details over there.
shocking. did not see that coming.
