Today, Line holds the Line Developer Day 2018 in Tokyo, Japan. The annual event has been held since 2015, took place at the fascinating Happo-en hall, This year’s theme is “Next Line”, emphasizing on Line’s future that depends on the three leading technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, and fintech. Those three are also buzzword of many tech companies in recent years, including in Indonesia.
Line, known as a messaging and entertainment platform, is trying to keep up with the latest technology in the region. They’re now calling itself an Asia-based global tech company.
Starting off with Euivin Park, Line’s CTO, the team presented its products roadmap for the next two years.
Unfortunately, the current implementations are only available for Japan-based developers and consumers. Regarding this issue, Park in the different occasion said that its team always seeing from the local acceptance (of a product). If the leading product is not getting along with the local regulations, they will look for ways to market another potential (niche) products.
In Indonesia, only chatbot technology as part of AI is currently in focus. Line is to enter the Indonesian fintech market in 2019 after taking over 20% of KEB Hana Bank shares in Indonesia.
