On Sunday, Agate Studio held a press conference to officially launch two of their games that can be downloaded on the Nokia Store for Nokia phone owners, Smash Mania and Sexy Witch.

Both games have actually been available on the Nokia Store for a some time prior to the launch but it was only announced on Sunday. We covered Smash Mania earlier which includes a comment from Yunita Anggraeni from Agate and Narenda Wicaksono from Nokia Indonesia about the promotional support for the game, you can check that article (in Indonesian) about Smash Mania, this article will focus on the second game, Sexy Witch, which is available in two versions, paid and free.

Dave Fabrian from Agate explained that the game – Sexy Witch was developed to compete with games from overseas studios in terms of gameplay as well as graphics. The game was designed as a time waster with a simple approach but an attractive look.

Yunita Anggraeni, who is the public relations manager for Agate explained over email that Sexy Witch had been downloaded over 100,000 times across both free and paid versions. The paid version had been made available since 1 November and the free version about a week later. Sexy Witch was developed by four people made up of an artist, designer, programmer and a producer. The paid version costs Rp 3.000 to download.

Fabrian said that while Indonesians have been downloading this game, Thailand is the top downloading country. Thailand and Vietnam are the top two countries in which Sexy Witch had the most downloads. The game is available for S40 and S60 phones although the types of S60 phones that can play this game is still limited.

I first saw this game while going through submissions for Nokia’s Create for Millions competition.
This straightforward side scrolling adventure game follows the story of Kathy the sexy witch who rides a flying broom stick trying to solve the mysteries of the magical world of Venefica. Needing only a single touch operation, players must avoid obstacles while gathering points and defeating the main boss. Players also receive assistance from a cat which appears during the game.

At the launch of Nokia’s Asha 303, Sexy Witch was highlighted as one of the local games that the company is promoting. There is also a competition for this game in which players can publish their game scores and the winner will receive a phone from Nokia. The competition runs from 11 December 2011 to 11 January 2012.
