Pegipegi, Indonesia’s OTA company, is said to open opportunity for third-party funding in strengthening its existence among tight competition in OTA market. They currently in early stage and yet to decide which investors to partner with.
“We begin to open for third-party funding, just a small talk though, still uncertain [to get investment] and will determine the next strategy,” Ryan Kartawidjaja, Pegipegi’s Deputy CEO, said on Tuesday, (12/5).
He thought, it is possible for Recruit Holdings, Pegipegi’s parent company, to split share with new investors. Despite the option, Kartawidjaja not specifically said on when will the investment realization be done.
Kartawidjaja statement, is somewhat different from past interview with Pegipegi’s CEO Takeo Kojima. Kojima previously said Recruit Holdings is fully committed in investing.
Currently, Pegipegi claims to have doubled its overall development over the past year. Highest contribution comes from hotel room, followed by flight and train tickets booking. Most transaction is done by Pegipegi app with 70%-80% contribution.
Five most-search cities of Pegipegi users are Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Bali and Surabaya. Those five contribute in nearly 50% of Pegipegi transaction.
For 2018, Pegipegi targets equal growth as this year. One way to make it happen is launching international flight tickets, rebranding new logo and selecting Pevita Pearce as brand ambassador.
“We’re rebranding logo and vision. The point is to be a fun traveling partner providing information of top destinations. Unlike other players, we want to provide information about travelling in Indonesia, the goal is to make it easier for traveller in getting information. Furthermore, Pegipegi will strengthen the CS team,” said Kartawidjaja.
