PayPal and Braintree Plan to Invade APAC with Startup Blueprint

Two eBay’s global subsidiaries, Paypal and Braintree, announced their Startup Blueprint initiation for Asia Pacific region. The initiation allows startups that work under a number of investors, to reduce their expenses. As for its presence in Southeast Asia region, Startup Blueprint appointed East Ventures, Golden Gate Ventures, Joyful Frog Digital Incubator (JFDI), and 1337 Accelerator to back it up.

“We understand that every penny worth and we don’t regard it otherwise. We want to push this Startup Blueprint initiation as we know how it feels to be one of startups, we were in their position. We want to let them stand and run. This initiation aims to help them administering their expenses more effectively and let them grow,” John Lunn, the Senior Global Director of Developer and Startup Relations of PayPal and Braintree, stated.

Through Startup Blueprint, startups can enjoy free payment processing for up to a transaction value of $1.5 Million with PayPal and $100,000 with Braintree. In addition, they will get an access to private advisers, who will give them one-on-one mentoring session, workshop, and other performance boosters.

While Braintree is only well-known in Australia at the moment, PayPal has established itself as a global brand for internet-based payment gateway. Globally, this Startup Blueprint has attracted at least 45 partners since its launching last year.

To be regarded as one of this program’s participants, a startup has to fulfill a number of requirements, including to focus on web or monile-based software, being private, has less than $3 million (around Rp 36 billion) of income per year or aged less than five years, and getting nominated by one of Startup Blueprint’s partners.

Should Indonesia’s local startups intend of joining this program, they need to get early stage funding and being included into East Ventures’ portfolio. Willson Cuaca, the Managing Partner of East Ventures, told DailySocial that every single startups that get funded by East Ventures will get waive for any transaction at PayPal up to  $50 thousands and at Braintree up to $100 thousands for 18 months. According to him, the Startup Blueprint is an exceptional program that helps startup saving up to $150 thousands.

Ever since its establishment, Startup Blueprint has supported hundreds of startups around the world, including the successful Memebox, Blitsy, Telnyx, and Swivl.
